It's commonly known that trash talk and boxing go hand-in-hand. But on Sept. 2, African-American boxer Floyd Mayweather didn't just trash talk rival Manny Pacquiao, he took aim at the Filipino boxer's racial heritage during a videotaped rant filled with nasty stereotypes. The public needs to send a message to Mayweather that his rant wasn't only unsportsmanlike but racist and homophobic as well. Don't let Mayweather off the hook for his conduct. Let him know that he needs to apologize to Pacquiao and the many groups he offended immediately.

As publicist for Floyd Mayweather, you're invested in ensuring that the boxer maintains an admirable public image. On Sept. 2, however, Mayweather's conduct was anything but admirable. He allowed himself to be videotaped threatening to cook Filipino rival Manny Pacquiao up with "cats and dogs" and referring to Pacquiao as a homophobic slur, presumably to take aim at Pacquiao's masculinity as an Asian man. In just one tirade, Mayweather managed to offend the gay community, a number of Asian ethnic groups, and the public at large.

Throughout the video, your client chuckles while berating Pacquiao for being Asian. But racism is no laughing matter. The groups that Mayweather insulted didn't find his put downs funny. For the hurt he's caused, your client needs to issue a public apology to Pacquiao and the Asian and gay communities at once. Although Mayweather has asked the public to forgive him for his racist rant, he's yet to apologize to those groups he specifically insulted. Please hold Mayweather accountable for his actions. His fans deserve better!
