Due to borrowing $190,000,000 to build the most expensive per capita sewer in the United States by the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors the financial stability of close to 5000 Los Osos/Baywood Park households; families, individuals and retirees is being severely jeopardized affecting the entire San Luis Obispo County economy for many future years. These aren't statistics, these are parents being able to provide financial family stability, it's kids having a less stressful home life, it's the financial security of retirees, it's a $10 million annual loss of consumer spending that will affect jobs throughout the San Luis Obispo county.  The sewer will be a $300 a month new expense for households, including taxes, the monthly operations bill and on lot costs MAKES A DIFFERENCE to a lot of people and will make a difference to the economy of San Luis Obispo county for the next 30 to 40 years!

Many households will reduce spending to be able to pay the new monthly expense. Businesses, job creation and stability and tax revenues to San Luis Obispo County schools and public services will suffer from the loss of more than $10,000,000 annually of spending that is redirected by the 5000 households to pay the new monthly expense. This loss of financial stability will have negative consequence to the economy throughout San Luis Obispo County for many years in the future.

Now is a challenging economic time to force what will soon be a $200 to $300 a month sewer expense on almost 5000 Los Osos/Baywood Park households of families, individuals and retirees. Many could be displaced, many will be financially disrupted. Those mandating this project have ignored its 30 to 40 years of economic consequence to San Luis Obispo county.

Now is not a good time for the economy of San Luis Obispo County to lose millions of dollars annually of spending by Los Osos households who will sacrifice to meet the added monthly expense. We need economic stimulus, our county and state can not afford to lose the tax revenues of so much spending for so many years.

Please sign this petition to keep families, individuals and retirees in their homes and to protect jobs and businesses in San Luis Obispo county.

Your online petition “signing” will be emailed to key decision makers including Congresswoman Lois Capps, California Coastal Commission members, authorities with the Department of Agriculture who have provided a massive loan $75-$80 million loan and the State Water Resources Control Board.

Protect revenue to county schools and public services, please sign the petition to stop the $190 MILLION borrowing and spending of the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors.

Stop The Most Expensive Per Capita Sewer In The US - The Los Osos Sewer!

Greetings,

I just signed the following petition addressed to: San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors, State and Federal Officials.
----------------
Stop The Most Expensive Per Capita Sewer In The US - The Los Osos Sewer!

I'm writing to express my sincere deep concern for the financial well being of families, individuals, retirees, businesses, jobs, schools and public services in San Luis Obispo County from the economic consequences of building the most expensive per capita sewer in the United States, the $190,000,000 Los Osos Waste Water Project, most commonly referred to as “the Los Osos Sewer”.

This is a difficult economic time to add a monthly average of $200 to $300 in debt obligation to the budgets of close to 5000 households of homeowner or renting families, individuals and retirees in Los Osos/Baywood Park who are required to pay the new sewer assessments. This added monthly expense MAKES A DIFFERENCE to a lot of people! It will displace many households and cause serious financial disruption affecting parents ability to provide for their family, kids having a less stressful home environment and the financial security of retirees.

Many of the 5000 households will have to reduce spending in order to pay the new monthly assessment charges. This is not a good time for the sake of economic stability in San Luis Obispo County to lose more than $10,000,000 annually of consumer discretionary spending from the households required to pay the $200 to $300 monthly sewer tax assessment. This lost consumer spending means lower sales tax revenue for county schools and public services. It means county business, job stability and new job creation in San Luis Obispo County are going to be negatively impacted for the next 30 to 40 years! It means less tax revenue for our state. This long term economic consequence can not be ignored.

Mandating this project ignores the financial plight of Los Osos and San Luis Obispo County families, retirees, businesses, jobs, schools and public services from a project that is no longer economically viable for the households who have to pay for it. The result will be a significant negative economic ripple throughout San Luis Obispo County affecting tax revenues at every government level.

You are a decision maker. I ask you, within your authority, to prevent putting 5000 Los Osos/ Baywood Park households in $190 million of debt. Stop the borrowing and spending by the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors to build the current proposed Los Osos Sewer. Suspend the newly implemented tax assessment and protect families and the economy of San Luis Obispo County.

If within your jurisdiction; I ask you to be receptive to alternate lower cost solutions of better basin management such as the San Lorenzo Septic Tank and Nutrient Management system. The current debt laden project does not justify placing this enormous financial burden on families, retirees and businesses throughout San Luis Obispo County already facing difficulty in these economic times.

Please exercise your authority, stop the building of the Los Osos Sewer and suspend the recently implemented property tax assessment until the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors can bring a project that will keep families and retirees in their homes, preserve jobs and businesses in San Luis Obispo County and stabilize revenues to county schools and public services.
