Over 200 Change.org members supported a group of students from the Catholic Univeristy of America who were asking the campus coffee shop to offer brewed Fair Trade coffee. Thanks in part to the petition, the students' demands were met, and they can now celebrate with a nice hot cup of Fair Trade coffee. The students are now working with campus coffee buyers to ensure Fair Trade coffee is available to all those who come after them.
This victory demonstrates the power of students using Change.org's platform and tools to create change on campus.
Last year, the Starbucks at Catholic University of America agreed that it would offer Fair Trade certified brewed coffee to all students, every day. But despite the agreement, Fair Trade coffee is often unavailable.
Catholic Univeristy needs to enforce it's promise to offer Fair Trade coffee via the Starbucks, create a transparent plan to ensure Fair Trade coffee will be available to students each day, and share that plan with the students.
Please, stand with Catholic Univesity students as the fight for the opportunity to choose Fair Trade coffee on campus.
Enforce Policy of Offering Fair Trade Certified Coffee at Starbucks
Greetings,
I am concerned about the lack of Fair Trade certified coffee options on the campus of the Catholic University of America. While I appreciate the university has agreed to offer Fair Trade certified coffee daily via the campus Starbucks, students report that Fair Trade coffee is rarely brewed and available.
Please create a transparent strategy to ensure Fair Trade certified coffee is available to students via the campus Starbucks and post that strategy publicly so students can access it.
Regards,
