Get OUT OF HOSPITAL BUSINESS if You Don't Like The Laws

The Issue

Conference of Catholic Bishops should either follow the same laws that ALL Hospitals who get Federal Taxpayer Money follow ... or ... they should just get out of the hospital business.

The religious liberty argument is bogus. Anyone who is Catholic is free to be so, and worship as a Catholic in any Catholic Church in the country.

I'm pretty sure running a Hospital is not a requirement to be Catholic.

I'm fairly certain running an University that is open to the public is not a required tenet of the faith.

When the Catholic Church decides it wants to run a Hospital that serves and employees all kinds of people, and that takes in Federal Tax Money, it should be aware that it has to follow the same Federal Laws that ALL Hospitals that receive Federal Tax Money follow.

Thus, if a Church wants to be a Hospital then it cannot discriminate against those people who do not subscribe to Catholic doctrine - that's the same non-discrimination laws that ALL Hospitals have to follow.

Sadly, it seems the Catholic Bishops are in a game of Smoke-n-Mirrors as many Catholic Hospitals and Catholic Universities have, by law, been compelled to provide contraception in their Health Insurance Plans for years.  So why are they pretending to be outraged now?

hmmmm.... maybe the Bishops who are complaining don't know that their employees have had conception covered in their Health Plans for years?

It's simple, once a Church becomes a Hospital who gets Federal Tax Money then the Hospital is NO LONGER the church as it becomes a BUSINESS that gets Federal Tax Money and should thus be treated as ALL OTHER Hospitals that get Federal Tax Money.

Therefore, Catholic Bishops must either follow Federal Laws that govern Hospitals that receive Federal Tax Money - or - the Catholic Bishops can get OUT OF THE HOSPITAL BUSINESS.
