After 25 years and nearly a billion dollars of research, there are still 110 women dying from breast cancer every day. Much of that money has been spent on unreliable and cruel research conducted on animals. In addition to subjecting animals to unimaginably painful, invasive experiments, animal testing doesn't work because of the significant physiological differences between animals and humans -- over 90 percent of drugs that pass animal tests fail to work in humans.
Progressive non-animal research such as in vitro cell and tissue cultures, microfluidic circuits, computer modeling, microdosing and epidemiological studies have proven that animal research is outdated and ineffective. By refocusing attention from animal models to human-centered research, we can get closer to a cure, as well as learning critical information about how breast cancer starts in women and what can be done to minimize environmental and genetic risk factors.
Nineteen breast cancer charities have received the Council on Humane Giving's Humane Charity Seal of Approval for their dedication to non-animal methods. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation isn't on the list. Tell them to stop funding animal research and join the humane race to stop breast cancer.

Please Commit to Funding Humane Research
Dear Breast Cancer Research Foundation
I am writing to you because I noticed that you are not among the 19 breast cancer charities who have received the Humane Charity Seal of Approval.
I am concerned about your funding animal experiments which are widely considered outdated, ineffective and cruel. Animals are subjected to painful, invasive experiments which don't translate to the human model. More than 90 percent of drugs that pass the animal testing phase fail in humans. After 25 years and nearly a billion dollars in research, 110 women are still dying every day from breast cancer.
I am joining the Change.org community and concerned advocates worldwide in calling on you to join your peers, including the American Breast Cancer Foundation, Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, Breast Cancer Fund, and others in the making the commitment to only fund humane, non-animal research.
Cruelty doesn't need to be part of the cure. There are alternatives to animal research. By using progressive, human-focused models, we can get closer to a cure and to learning about how to protect women from breast cancer.
