Anderson Cooper is right. Andrew Breitbart should apologize, too.

This week Shirley Sherrod was the casualty of Andrew Breitbart's attack on the NAACP. Now that the truth about Sherrod has come out, the USDA, the NAACP, the White House, even some folks at FOX have all apologized to Sherrod. It is clear that Breitbart is also to blame for the public maligning of Sherrod. It is time that Breitbart own up to his role in causing Sherrod an intense amount of personal and professional trauma.

Breitbart's site BigGovernment.com, where he first posted the video, is the perfect place to make his public apology.

An Apology, Andy, Please

Greetings,

Andy, it’s time to fess up and say you’re sorry for what you did that was wrong.

You have already admitted that you purposefully used Shirley Sherrod to make a political point. In fact, in an interview with Sean Hannity, you stated that you “could care less about Shirley Sherrod.” She was just an unfortunate casualty in your drive to unmask the racist underbelly of the NAACP. Fine, you have a political agenda. Most of us do. But if someone gets hurt in the process, it stops mattering if we can prove that point. It is our job to be human to each other. If we don't have that, what do we have?

Indeed, until you close your chapter on this crime against Sherrod's character with a full apology, we will find it that much harder as a country to teach our children that individual actions are important and individual responsibility to be human to each other matters.

No one has yet held you accountable for your actions. Here at Change.org, we cannot abide your not apologizing along with the USDA, the NAACP, and the White House. We would like to stand with you as a country in this apology. Please give us that chance by making a full apology to Shirley Sherrod and publish it on your site, BigGovernment.com. It is time to make this right.
