The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) transit district is fueling a political ad war between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian organizations.

Last month, BART took down political ads at train stations that said "Stop Palestinian terrorism." This month, Stand With Us, the pro-Israel organization came back with a "Stop Palestinian Leadership From Preaching Hate and Violence" ad. An offended Change.org member took a snapshot yesterday morning.

Fueling a political ad war between two different ethnic groups is inappropriate and offensive to the Bay Area community that prides itself on tolerance and diversity. It is also against BART policy to entertain disparaging ads targeting certain groups and BART reserves the right to take them down at any time. It must exercise that right in this instance.

Take Down Anti-Palestine Ads

Greetings

I am writing to request that BART take down the Stand With Us posters targeting Palestinians and the Palestinian leadership.

I believe that BART removed the "Stop Palestinian Terrorism" political ads last month by the same organization because they were "disparaging or demeaning to Palestinians as a whole." The new ads targeting the Palestinian leadership also denigrates and demeans Palestine and the people as hateful and violent. That really is not what we expected to see from the otherwise tolerate San Francisco Bay Area.

If the ad said "Stop Israel Government From Preaching Hate and Violence" BART officials would be targeted for anti-semitism and hate.

It is also against BART policy to entertain disparaging ads targeting certain groups and BART reserves the right to take them down at any time. It must exercise that right in this instance.

I understand that BART needs ad revenues. But fueling a political ad between two different ethnic groups is inappropriate and offensive to the Bay Area community that prides itself on tolerance and diversity.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you on this matter.
