Slow down human trafficking by supporting global education and health efforts, now :) Two Urgent Opportunities for Global Health and Education :) Two Congressional leaders on global poverty are spearheading urgent efforts to expand our response to education and disease. They need your help. 1. Tell the Senate to fund the fight against TB!Tuberculosis, a curable disease, still kills 1.7 people each year, and is the leading killer of people with HIV/AIDS. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) has initiated a sign-on letter requesting $650 million for global TB programs. $650 million would put the U.S. on track to achieving the Global Plan to Stop TB and meeting funding targets in the Lantos-Hyde Act passed in 2008 ($4 billion over five years). Please call your Senators and ask them to sign the Brown letter to support $650 million for TB funding in fiscal year 2010 (FY10). The deadline for signatures is THIS MONDAY, JULY 6.
