93% of the money in this country is owned by 20% of its people. There is no shortage of money in America. Despite what people have said, the overall economy has grown in America for 31 of the last 38 years since 1970 (2008 data, and inflation adjusted dollars). Meanwhile tax rates on the rich have dwindled from 80% in 1980, to 24% in 2010. Our deficit has showed the result, and so has the distribution of money in America. A 2010 survery concluded that the top 1% of people owned 42.7% of the money in the country, while the top 20% together with that 1% owned 93% of the countries financial wealth. (http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html) (http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/02/income-inequality-in-america-chart-graph)

Now we are officially breaking our back to maintain these unheard of tax breaks for those who own 93% of the wealth in this country. We have turned inward against ourselves demanding we shut down or dramatically cut programs to feed the poor, to educate our children, to provide healthcare, to preserve our enviroment, and yes some have even asked to raise taxes on 80% of the poorest of us to finally gut the hard working people's remaining 7% of the wealth. The 80% of us who make less then 90,000 dollars a year simply have no more to give, and we can't turn on each other to become barbarians to support these 20% of peoples wealth.

Join me in telling congress that we demand the top 20% of people in this nation give back what we have given to them. Tell them to tax the rich, to impose a 30% to 80% sliding scale tax rate on people from 90,000/yr(180,000+ for couples) upto 100,000,000+/yr incomes and reinstitute the inheretance taxes. Stand with me and tell them that we are a nation of hard workers. Tell them that we demand that everyone have a shot at the American dream, not just those that are born into it.

Tax the Rich

Greetings,

The tax on the rich has dwindled from 80% in 1980 to 24% in 2010. Because of these tax reductions our deficits have skyrocketed! The ballooning national debt has encouraged the poor to submit their final social holdings as a last ditch effort to fund these tax breaks. These programs to be cut include education, healthcare, the environment, food programs, and even some have suggested increasing taxes on the working class. These cuts will kill our long term ability to be a profitable and great country!

In a 2010 pole the top 20% of the country own 93% of the countries financial wealth (http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html), and the inequality is both corrupting and destabilizing. I strongly urge you to STOP this accumulation of wealth and put our country on the right fiscal path. We must reinstate the equalizers of the early 1980s and raise the taxes on the rich for the strength of the economy and for the humanitarian principles of America.
