Support Alta Vista Hospital Employees in Las Vegas, New Mexico

The Issue

Three years ago, the employees at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico voted in a wall-to-wall election to secure union representation for themselves. Since that time the hospital has blocked the union with appeal after appeal, all of which have ruled in the employees' favor. The hospital has illegally fired many of the original union supporters, disrupting the community of Las Vegas and forcing many of its residents to seek jobs far away from their hometown.

Healthcare workers deserve to be treated better than this. Some of the reasons for the union vote included lack of supplies, incident reports that went unanswered, a human resource department that refused to address any patient care issues with management, and a hospital administration that looked only to assign blame, and did not seek to remedy patient care issues.
