Support the Child Protection Compact Act of 2011 to Stop Child Sex Trafficking

Support the Child Protection Compact Act of 2011 to Stop Child Sex Trafficking

The Issue

The use of children for commercial sexual exploitation has become a global phenomenon and affects millions of children worldwide.  While hundreds of thousands of children are being trafficked in the United States alone, child sex trafficking is truly a global issue.

The Department of State's Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons placed 132 countries, out of 175 countries ranked, on Tier 2 or Tier 2 Watch List in its 2010 Trafficking in Persons report.  Many of these countries lack sufficient resources to combat child sexual exploitation on their own, and the United States has already pledged to create policies and programs to fight against trafficking in persons through the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children.

Your support of the Child Protection Compact Act of 2011 will help to create a bridge between the United States and the rest of the world in order to stop child sex trafficking.  This compact will provide incentives for Tier 2 countries to protect and rescue children subjected to severe forms of trafficking in persons, and will raise global awareness of the impact of child sex trafficking.
