Over the next few weeks, the Oregon Fish & Wildlife Commission is considering a common-sense plan proposed by Governor John Kitzhaber to remove non-tribal commercial gill nets from the Lower Columbia River.

Gill nets are an outdated fishing method, indiscriminately killing marine mammals, birds, and endangered native fish. The Governor's plan would allow gill nets in side areas where they will do less damage, and require selective fishing methods in the main part of the river.

Please stand with Governor Kitzhaber: Let the Fish & Wildlife Commission know that you support protecting wildlife and endangered fish - and that they should support the common-sense plan in their upcoming vote.
