This is in protest to the Ca. Gov  cutting SS1 to 'save' the California  budget.

SSI is given to Blind, Aged, and Disabled(Mental or physical) individuals who aren't eligable for Social Security and aren't able to work well enough to support themselves. SSI comes from tax revenues . The federal gov funds most of SSI, but the state funds some too. Ca. used to fund 199, but was reduced twice. So SSI recepients get 850. all together, instead of 907. which matched the cost of living increase. Now it is much harder for ssi recipients to get by, than it used to be.
