One of the first orders of business for the House GOP was to restrict a woman’s access to an abortion. They recently introduced the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” which makes permanent a government-wide ban on funding for abortion. But it goes farther than this – it prevents subsidies and tax incentives for health insurance plans that offer abortion, even if no federal funds are used to pay for them.

Another bill, the "Protect Life Act" defends healthcare providers, hospitals and healthcare plans that refuse to cover abortions, even in life-saving circumstances. Both bills are primarily designed to limit choice and penalize women for choosing an abortion, even when it's medically necessary.
