Del Monte is currently selling individually plastic wrapped bananas. This practice goes against their stated sustainability goals on the http://www.freshdelmonte.com website.

By signing the below petition, we are asking Del Monte to live up their stated sustainability goal:

"Del Monte Fresh Produce Company recognizes its responsibility to operate in a sustainable manner that ensures the long term viability of the natural resources utilized for the production of our products and the protection of the environment within which we operate. To that end, we have implemented our environmental policy in our operations worldwide. To ensure full compliance, our environmental programs are audited, both internally and externally, and have been certified, among others, in ISO 14000, the international standard for environmental protection, and/or in the GlobalGap protocol."

The business practice of packaging vegetables and fruits with plastic is not a sustainability business practice. Stop purchasing Del Monte products where possible until this changes.

We urge states level organizations to limit the distribution of this type of packaging in their government agencies, purchasing, and at educational institutions.
