If you are in the UK you can stop the majority of junk mail by filling in your details on http://www.mpsonline.org.uk. This is a free service which lets the Direct Mail companies know that you do not wish to receive junk mail.

I signed up for this a couple of years ago and have not been plagued by junk mail since!
