Please consider signing the Change.org campaign against the Protection of Information Bill. If this bill is passed into law, it will have far-reaching consequences for SA's democracy as it will enable *all* government departments and institutions (including, for instance, such Chapter Nine institutions as the Human Rights Commission and the Gender Commission) to classify documentation at will. Whistleblowers will also be subjected to harsh penalties, and this will severely hamper the ability of citizens and the media to monitor corruption, mismanagement of funds and other violations of law.
