Stop the I-75 Connector in Central KY

Stop the I-75 Connector in Central KY

The Issue

We are a group of your neighbors who have come together to stop the building of a proposed I75 connector between Nicholasville and I75 in Madison County.

We’re asking you to join us because it’s a bad idea from start to finish. For many reasons.

Because it’s estimated to cost about $400 million. Kentucky’s state budget has a deficit of $44 billion. Would you spend money you don’t have on something you don’t need? Just so a handful of businessmen will benefit?

Because it will mean the end to our way of life. It will mean paving over our farmland so massive semis belching carbon monoxide can roar through. (Day and night. Twenty four hours a day. Seven days a week. Look at the map – they could go right by your door.)

Because it will destroy thousands of acres of our beautiful rural landscape. It will pollute our air, kill our wildlife, erase our history and destroy the countryside that makes us proud to live in Kentucky. And once all that is gone, it’s gone for good.

Because it will mean more traffic. An almost 20% increase in truck traffic alone, to and through Jessamine County. Do you really want to waste gas and time stalled in traffic?

Because it will harm our quality of life and might even endanger our health.

Because it will threaten the landmarks our families grew up with: the Kentucky River Palisades, the Valley View Ferry, Tapp’s Cave, Devil’s Pulpit; old homes, root cellars, rock fences and cemeteries in the Marble Creek watershed; the Spears School and ancient Indian Mounds, to name a few.
