Last year 2010, at least 2 fatalities and 16 serious accidents were due to the poorly organized Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge. Since the organizers refused to avail the public with a roster of participating racers the total number of those injured and killed could be larger. There was no medical support, route maps were wrong, and many check points were unmanned. They ran the race again in 2011. The price to participate was $1000.00. It was advertised as 10,000 miles when it was in fact 14,000 miles which made the finish line impossible to reach before the deadline without speeding. Organizers gave the racers a deadline to arrive by or else they would be disqualified. Eleven riders made it by the deadline but all disqualified for speeding. There was no winner and no one recieved prize money. The organizers pocketed all the entrance fees. The race is billed as an "Endurance Test" because racing is illegal on public roads.
