Stop the DSALA from associating with comedians who disrespect those with intellectual disabilities

The Issue

The Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles is once again holding an event called Twentywonder (http://www.twentywonder.org/) which will feature one comedian who bashes people with special needs, uses the word "retard" as a perjorative,  and refuses to apologize.  This petition asks the DSALA to start RESPECTING those whom they serve and STOP their association with people who mock and use those with disabilities for their own personal gain.

Twentywonder features comedian Patton Oswalt.  His typical brand of humor can been seen at :

Last year, the Twentywonder event featured these two 'comedians':

Sarah “I don’t give a F*** about their advocates" Silverman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PpXPra_Olg

Dana "Now who's the retard" Gould http://www.myspace.com/video/danagould/the-special-olympics/12436372 .  Gould is the husband of Sue Naegle, President of HBO Entertainment.

Sarah Silverman and Dana Gould are still listed as "Friends" of the Twentywonder Event.

Fundraisers are wonderful tools to provide money for various causes.  But, the alliance of the DSALA with those actors who seek out opportunities to ridicule those with intellectual disabilities is a sell out for money. It is NOT okay to call someone a "retard" or to use the word as a pejorative--and it is especially not okay for the Down Syndrome Association to partner with those who do.  Please sign this petition and tell the DSALA their job is to SUPPORT and RESPECT those with intellectual disabilities, not partner with those who make money from ridiculing them.
