Stop the Deportation of Domestic Violence Victim Maria Bolanos

Stop the Deportation of Domestic Violence Victim Maria Bolanos

The Issue

As a result of the controversial Secure Communities program, Maria Bolanos, a mother of a 21-month-old U.S. citizen baby faces deportation after seeking out help from local police in her domestic violence case.

Communities' distrust of local authorities has increased due to the Secure Communities program, which uses fingerprints collected by local law enforcement to investigate immigration status and trigger removal proceedings.

Federal and state tax dollars are being misallocated; instead of targeting criminals, this program is criminalizing victims in need of help.

Support Maria Bolanos and families like hers that are being destroyed by signing this petition to stop her deportation and end the Secure Communities program.
