Misogynist and Missouri native Rush Limbaugh is set to be honored with a bronze statue at the Missouri state Capitol authorized by House Speaker Steven Tilley. The sculpture, a bust, will be placed in the Capitol rotunda's Hall of Famous Missourians, alongside some of the Show-Me State's REAL heroes, including Harry S. Truman, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Dred Scott.

A preposterous Limbaugh sculpture for Missouri's statehouse is rather like Michigan deciding to officially honor Father Charles Coughlin, the anti-Semitic 1930s radio broadcaster who also thrived on scapegoating commentary that exploited the fears and resentments of an economically fraught era. The difference: In 2012 Americans universally deplore anti-Semitism, while misogyny stands poised for official consecration in bronze.

Please help stop this from happening. Mr. Limbaugh does not share the values of Missourians and therefore should not be immortalized.
