Stop Meth Production

Stop Meth Production
The Issue
Help fight against the growing problem of dangerous, illegal methamphetamine production in North Carolina. Make Sudafed and other drugs containing pseudoephedrine require prescriptions to hamper the chances of Meth production.
Meth labs are being discovered in North Carolina at an alarming rate. Physically Meth is harmful because it can lead to heart problems, brain damage, decreased appetite, loss of teeth, gum deterioration, skin sores, and death. Intravenous use of Meth increases the spread of HIV, hepatitis, and other infectious diseases among drug addicts who share needles. Innocent bystanders have to face the repercussions of illegal Methamphetamine production with increased crime and toxic waste from Meth labs. In 2010 North Carolina reported that 235 clandestine Meth labs were discovered; Watauga County alone had 20 labs discovered.
Implementing prescription laws greatly reduce the production of Meth in North Carolina. Homemade Meth labs are increasing threats to North Carolina residents because of the easy access to products containing pseudoephedrine. Residents in North Carolina are only required to show photo identification to purchase products like Sudafed which contain pseudoephedrine. If a prescription law was enacted Meth producers would have a difficult time purchasing pseudoephedrine products.
