Stop Killing Pets and Reinstate the No Kill Policy at the Macon-Bibb Shelter

The Issue

 Georgia:

Deborah Biggs has been brought on as Macon-Bibb’s interim animal welfare director. Starting this month (July) Bibb County took over Macon County’ No kill animal shelter and started immediately euthanizing animals with one phone call for Ms Biggs. This “kill call” ended a 10-week no kill policy that had put in place.  Many rescues in the area worked hard to help put this policy in place and to help these animals find much deserved homes during this time.

The Examiner reports that “on the first day 15 dogs were euthanized even though the local rescues had the animals under capacity”.

Please sign this petition. Upon signing, an email message will be sent to Commissioner Edwards to let him know the practice of euthanizing animals must cease immediately. The "No KIll" policy should be reinstated at the shelter. The shelter should continue working with rescues under the “No Kill” policy to place the Macon-Bibb County pets. Additionally, the “No Kill” policy should become permanent at the Macon-Bibb Shelter.  Ms. Biggs should immediately be removed as interim animal welfare director.
