If you're a vegan...or just a decent human being you will be interested in this petition. 

I am 17 years old and I live right by Columbus Circle. Every day I am forced to see dozens of carriage horses stand in the freezing cold and inhale toxic fumes as they wait for tourists to ride them.

Once the tourists come, the horses must maneuver the dirty, fast paced streets of new york, all the while supporting the weight of a handful of people in a heavy, ornate carriage.

It doesn't help that often times the drivers of these carriages aren't at all concerned about the welfare of the horse. 

This needs to stop immediately! Even beijing has outlawed this. One alternative is the use of "classic" old fashioned cars that are electric or run on some sort of alternative fuel. This would keep people in the horse carriage industry employed, while also avoiding the animal abuse!
