The United States is constantly sending billions of dollars to aid foreign countries while hundreds of thousands of the people of our own country are losing their jobs, their homes and have fallen into the poverty level.  Many do not even have money for food and they as well as their children are going hungry.  Many are homeless and the ones that are struggling to keep their homes often cannot afford to heat their homes in the winter.

This is unconscionable.  For a country of "plenty" to allow their own citizens to suffer in poverty while sending unlimited funds everywhere from Iraq, Darfur, Sudan, Haiti, even Afghanistan...where you know that there has to be enemies of the U.S. benefitting from our monetary donations.

"Charity begins at home"  as my mother always said.  It is about time that the U.S. starts to take care of their people at home.  Only after our own people are taken care of should we extend generousity to countries outside of the U.S.
