NATO forces led by the United States are currently bombing targets in Libya. This is part of a so-called "humanitarian intervention" to "protect" civilians. As the history of bombings in Serbia, Iraq, and Afghanistan show, such bombings inevitably lead to civilian casualties.

Obama claims to be simply protecting the Libyan people and not trying to overthrow the Libyan government. But the evidence shows otherwise. NATO planes are acting as a de facto air force for the Libyan rebels. They have been repeatedly striking any government forces which engage the rebels.

So who are these rebels? The government tells us these are "freedom fighters" fighting for "democracy". But this could not be farther from the truth. The rebel forces have killed hundreds of black civilians in Libya calling them "foreign mercenaries," despite evidence to the contrary. Many of the rebels are Al Qaeda fighters who gained fighting experience under the Iraqi insurgency.

Why would our government support such a force? Interestingly, Gaddafi had been trying to nationalize Libyan oil assets and give the revenue generated by these oil assets directly to the Libyan people.

We have heard the talk of supporting "democracy" before. Let's not fall for it again.
