Two Massachusetts legislators have introduced a bipartisan bill that would ban the use of gestation crates for pigs, battery cages for chickens, and veal crates in the Bay State. If they're successful, Massachusetts would join the small but growing list of states who are standing up to the agribusiness industry and putting a stop to the industry's cruelest confinement practices.
Battery cages, gestation crates, and veal crates are tiny and cramped, without enough room for an animal to turn around, stretch, or even lie down comfortably. Animals in factory farms can spend their entire lives trapped in one of these. It's an inhumane practice, and it should be stopped.
Tell Massachusetts legislators to support the Massachusetts Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act.

Please Support the Massachusetts Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act
Greetings,
I was excited to read on Change.org that two Massachusetts legislators, Rep. Jason Lewis and Sen. Robert Hedlund, have introduced the Massachusetts Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act. This necessary and important piece of legislation would require agricultural producers to ensure that their livestock, including chickens, pigs, and calves, have room to stand up, turn around, and lie down in their stalls and crates.
The practices of using battery cages for chickens, gestation crates for pigs, and veal crates is cruel. These extreme confinements force animals to spend their entire lives trapped and unable to turn around or even lie down comfortably.
The Massachusetts Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act won't harm agriculture in the Bay State, but it will make conditions less brutal for livestock. I hope you'll support this vital legislation.
