Stop All Deportation in The State of Massachusetts

Stop All Deportation in The State of Massachusetts

The Issue

 Residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts demand  that

Governor, Deval Patrick, and the Mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino:

STOP ALL DEPORTATIONS IN THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS

END ALL STATE AND LOCAL COOPERATION WITH

THE “SECURE COMMUNITIES” PROGRAM

REJECT ALL FEDERAL DETAINER REQUESTS

Considering that millions of United States residents have been deported during the past five years, the great majority of them are people of color and minorities, the United States government along with locally elected officials are guilty of forced deportations, apartheid government tactics, and human rights abuses.

Considering that the ‘Secure Communities’ program forces local law enforcement to act as immigration officers, to profile people of color, and to begin the process of deportation even on the suspicion of breaking the law;

Considering that “Secure Communities” Program sows fear in immigrant communities with the ever present danger of deportation, of separating fathers and mothers from their children, of loosing their possessions and valuables, and their income or salaries cut off;

Considering that many of those residents who have been deported have no right to appear before a judge, have no right to speak to a lawyer, and no right to appeal a deportation decision, amongst them American citizens, the Mayor of the City of Boston, Thomas Menino, and the Governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick, are complicit in civil and human rights violations, imposed by the federal government.

For these reasons, I sign this letter and join the voices of thousands of residents in the state of Massachusetts and in the United States in denouncing this blatant injustice, and we demand that action be taken immediately.

END ALL STATE AND LOCAL COOPERATION WITH

THE “SECURE COMMUNITIES” PROGRAM.

REJECT ALL FEDERAL DETAINER REQUESTS
