The Issue

We petition the Staten Island Department of Transportation to make Grymes Hill and Howard Avenue a safer space for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. The high volume of fast-moving traffic and lack of crosswalks, sidewalks, etc. have made it a dangerous place; most tragically, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed Wagner College student R. J. Tillman while he was bicycling on Howard Avenue on February 12, 2012. Grymes Hill is a neighborhood, with four academic campuses. It should not be an automobile speedway. Please make it a priority to ensure the safety of all who are traveling in this area.
