Bullying is an act of violence. When that bullying continues on social media even after the victim has succumbed to suicide is heinous. We are losing thousands of our children, youth and even young adults to suicide and self-harm because of the torment of bullys. The tragic death of Amanda Cummings is but the latest of a long line of unnecessary and avoidable tragedies that our young people and families are suffering. This can no longer be tolerated. It must be stopped. It may seem impossible, but it isn't, not if we all do our share to Stand Up and Speak Out. Let's all start in our own back yard. We are asking you Borough President Molinaro to help us begin this campaign by instituting not only Zero Tolerance on bullying in our local schools but pushing legislation that will somehow cause the social media networks to be more pro-active in stopping cyber-bullying.
Every signature counts, every voice needs to be heart. Let's give our children and young people a chance to live before they have to die.
