Stand Up to Sodexo in New York

Stand Up to Sodexo in New York
The Issue
Sodexo serves SUNY's Binghamton University and as an intelligent, ethically-minded campus body, we want nothing to do with unsustainable, unethical food products.
Tell Sodexo to:
1) Use much more (at least 50%) locally grown (maximum of 200 miles away) produce, meat and cheeses. As much as possible, 7 days a week.
2) Stop supporting factory farmed meat. It's immoral, inhumane, environmentally harmful, and produces an inferior product. There are plenty of local, animal-friendly farms in the area, so there's no excuse here.
3) Make further efforts to cut down environmental damage and emissions, beyond the transport related carbon emission that will be reduced by the aforementioned bullets.
4) use only locally SOURCED food, not food from distributors coincidentally located within the local-food range but sell food sourced from across the globe. This means Sodexo cannot continue to claim CocaCola is a "local" product because there is a bottling plant within the range.
Reducing our University's economic support of unethically cultivated agriculture is a win-win. This will lead to new job growth in the area, healthier food for those on campus, and contribute towards a more sustainable environment.
Help make Binghamton's future bright!
