Splash-4-Life
The Issue
The Marshalltown Community has lost four innocent children in the past month to the Iowa River that runs right past Riverview park where many people of many culturals play, fish, have family gatherings and camp. As of recently we have had nurmerous cultural shift in the Marshalltown community and it's fair to say not all have the means to pay for a pool or daily pass to get into the pool. So if the community can pull together I do believe we can provide a safe place for children to play at as a means to stay cool during hot humid days. In some culturals they don't believe in air conditioners and use other resources as a means to stay cool. It's not safe to swim in the river so I think we need to get a safe place for the children and the adults to play in that is free of cost. I have teamed up with some people who are working on trying to find funding for this project known as Splash-4-Life however I need the help and support to convince the city of Marshalltown to see the need for a splash pad and the potential it holds to make the community a better and fun place to be. We also need there approval to give up some land to build a splash pad on so we don't have any more tragic losses.
