Southwest Roanoke Park and Greenway petition

Southwest Roanoke Park and Greenway petition
The Issue
With the straightening of the S curve along Rt. 221 and the road's realignment, a great opportunity has been created to develop a park along Back Creek and a greenway that links to the other Roanoke Valley greenways and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
At the heart of the greenway is a new park just north of the new bridges now under construction. It is a surprisingly quiet and beautiful stretch of land where all you hear is the babble of the creek. It is a half-mile piece of wilderness that no one knows about -- and it belongs to you.
The idea is that the park will be the core of a new greenway that starts at Rt. 419 and goes up Rt. 221 to Cotton Hill Road and up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and to the South County Library. It will help provide linkages to all the other greenways in the county.
County, state and local leaders are behind the project but they want to know that there is community support for it.
So please, let them know you in favor of the project. Simply sign this peition and "like" our Facebook page.
Thanks for your support!
