Sodexo Has Got To Go!

The Issue

Here in Middlesex County, NJ, Sodexo employs the people who serve food to our children and clean and maintain our school buildings in: Piscataway, Plainfield, South Plainfield, Highland Park, South Amboy, Cranbury, and Old Bridge.

Violating Human Rights Across the World: In addition to paying wages as low as $8.50 per hour right here in our schools, Sodexo has been cited in reports by two major human rights watch dogs groups, Human Rights Watch and TransAfrica Forum, for human rights violations.

Finances: New Jersey’s schools are facing an unprecedented financial crisis. Currently, there is evidence that private food service contractors such as Sodexo could be pocketing valuable resources that should be going to our state’s children.

School Nutrition: Of the 35 Sodexo districts tested during the last three years: Less than 10 percent served meals that met all USDA nutritional requirements and 69 percent served meals containing excessive fat, among other serious failures.

As members of our communities where Sodexo has a contract , we are concerned about Sodexo’s practices and how it impacts our lives and our families. We are calling on the Boards of Education to terminate your contracts with Sodexo in favor of a responsible company.
