Mitchell Berken*** (Leaving the last 3 letters blank for anonymity) was expelled from Houston Christian Non-Denominational High School his senior year in 2007 when his cell phone was taken up at school, and the principal found out about a gay relationship he was in.

Houston Christian High School (HCHS) is a "non-denominational" private institute that prides itself with its student diversity. They openly allow admission to students of non-Christian faith by allowing religious head-coverings (such as scarves/shawls) and symbolic clothing/accessories, yet expel students found to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.

We want HCHS to recognize that there are branches of the Christian faith that accept the LGBT community. No student should be denied a paid private education because of his or her sexual orientation. After all, non-denominational means every branch of Christianity. You must include all beliefs, conservative and liberal, or you are simply not "non-denominational."
