This commitment is good for the environment, society and your spirit! No matter which holiday you celebrate this year, religious or non-, all or none, let's look for new ways to keep it green and keep it real.
Obviously, focusing on the emotional and spiritual aspects of our cultural celebrations is the best way to change the materialization of the season. However, many of us do still participate in good old-fashioned gift giving. This is a great place to start transforming your "traditions" and teaching others too!

First of all, let's spend less! Thoughtful and fun gifts do not have to be expensive! With all of the problems in the world.... we really should reconsider our priorities.
I have always been big on recycling and reusing wrappings, packaging and even gifts. We can wrap gifts in reusable items, or even skip the pretty papers all together. I also think handmade or intangible gifts are the best. People really do love thoughtful gifts that go beyond "stuff"... Consider donating to a favorite cause or looking for gifts that raise money or awareness. There are a lot of resources on the web and elsewhere.
I am also commiting to making sure our decor is more eco-friendly [no tinsel!] and that at least one organic product will be served at family dinners!

Happy Holidaze [all of them!] and have fun spreading green joy!
