Warsaw community high school participates in the day of silence each year (for those who don't know about the day of silence i urge you to check out its web site at:  http://www.dayofsilence.org/index.cfm) and every year out local GSA (gay straight alliance) promotes it. But because of the principals 'fear of violent behavior' he has forbidden any of the GSA's annoucments or even let the day of silence be announced by either the school news paper or the schools daily TV announcements. as a junior this year, i have participated for 3 years now and there has been no 'Violent' behavior, just immature comments and stares. those of us in GSA are trying to get the word out before the day is held, but we can only do so much. we are 12 out of 2,000 students, we need help.

While during the day of silence I cant tell you the number of people angry that they were not given notice until the day of, or how some people would have liked to join if it was explained to them before-hand. This day is not given the support it needs because of this Conservative schools lack of compromise. please help free our voices for this day of silence and bring back the meaning of this cause!
