Tell Utah Police Officer: Don't Say "This Will Not Be a Priority" in a Rape Case!

The Issue

A woman was raped by a man who owns a business in Utah. The woman did not report the incident immediately but was compelled to later report is due to unbearable flashbacks. Her involvement with sites and media that reported rape issues forced her to confront the issue. There was a rape incident that was played on the news, published on the papers and told almost everywhere in the media in Utah, and this was one of the things that pressurized her to tell her story.

She told a story to a friend in Salt Lake  who advised that rape is a serious offense and has to be reported.

She called the local police and the officer asked her why she did not geat away.

From this  conversation the  rape victim had with a SLC police office, the victim felt that she did something to earn the rape because the officer said about her case "This will not be a priority".

Please tell the officer that rape is always a priority.

Update, March 5, 2011: Investigator said DA's office said they will not press charges. I will post a complete account of the conversation at a later time.
