Both Skyway and White Center have experienced recent storefront deputy resignations, leaving each location with a reduction in force of 3-2 during a storefront officer's shift. Both job openings have been publicized, but there are no candidates.

Dedicated storefront officers are highly valued by Skyway and White Center, because they intimately know their areas, communicate with residents, build relationships, bridge divides, supervise staff, reduce crime rates, and build strong, positive relationships with the King County Sheriff's Office . They serve as community leaders and provide critical support to our block watches, residents, businesses, fire personnel, government and local organizations.

Without our storefront deputies, we are out of touch in terms of communication, and much more vulnerable. We count on King County government to keep these positions filled, and do whatever it takes to give them full support and funding, even if it takes some additional incentives. 

Safety is the most important aspect of what government provides. Without it, there is poor quality of life, and areas decline. We are counting on our King County government to keep all promises, and give us full support when it comes to public safety. That includes filling our storefront deputy vacancies.
