The Senkaku islands have long been in controlled by Japan, but in the 1970's an oil deposit was found there. Immediately China and Taiwan claimed it. Both claiming discover and early rule. Both are of course untrue, evidence suggests the Okinawan's discovered the Senkaku Islands. Also their is no evidence to suggest anyone other than Japan has ruled there. Although no one currently lives their in the past there have been Japanese living there. Although recently tensions have escalated as a Chinese fishing ship hit (probably on command of the government) a Japanese coast guard ship. The captain was released back to China after mass protest from the China and the Chinese people (probably also engineered by the government). All international law points to Japan's ownership, yet China brings in old maps that don't even state claim over the Islands and tries to claim the islands. All in all this is just another show of Chinese imperialism. Don't let China steal the Senkaku islands as they did with Tibet. Sign this petition get congress and the president to do something about this injustice.
