Send the locomotive "Reno" to the Rail Musuem in Carson City.
The Issue
The "Reno" was the first locomotive to pull a train in between Reno and Carson City, she was the crown jewel of the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, which originally operated from 1869-1950 in Northern Nevada. Being the most famous V&T Locomotive, she belongs back to where she worked.

She was sold off by the V&T begrudgingly in 1938 to Paramount Pictures. The V&T also tore up its original lines in between Virginia City and Carson City in 1938. The V&T was hurting from competition by domestic automotive travel that came around with the United States Highway system.

Since 1970 Old Tucson Studios has had possession of the Reno, and it has sat lonely and abandoned on a small piece of track barely big enough to hold her. She appeared in various films and television productions throughout her time at Old Tucson. In 1995, a fire swept through the Old Tucson Studios, and the Reno was caught in the blaze. She sat damaged for years until she was cosmetically restored in order to appear in the Will Smith film Wild, Wild West.
Since then, she has sat on that piece of track, lonely and forgotten. It may seem hard to feel anything for a Train Engine, but this locomotive means so much to Nevada History, and even the History of the whole Western United States. The Gold and silver from Virginia City was minted in Carson City, and helped build San Francisco. The Virginia and Truckee Railroad helped build the Western United States, and it's star locomotive should not be left to rust away in the desert hundreds of miles from her home.
Old Tucson Studios should get in touch with the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, Nevada. They currently have quite a lot of V&T artifacts, and they have the means and motivation to properly restore her, and quite possibly could get her back into running shape. If you help us, you can help get a piece of Old West history running again.
