President Barack Obama, Senator Robert Menendez, and Senator Cory Booker:

We know that you are advocates for comprehensive immigration reform. We understand that the efforts to address these issues are stalled in the United States House of Representatives. There are steps that you can take to stop the inhumane deportations. The majority of Americans believe that we should move forward in addressing comprehensive immigration reform. We will continue to have Fathers, Mothers, Spouses, Uncles, Aunts, Brothers, Sisters, Nephews and Nieces impacted by that continued inaction.

The undersigned are members and leaders in the Latino Community, the Latino Greek Community, as well as leaders and citizens who support this position. We are requesting that Mario H. Flores be released for humanitarian reasons and have all deportation proceedings halted as it would destroy the loving relationship that Founding Father Rinaldo Lago has maintained with his life partner and spouse for the past seven years. We are of the belief that we can have a more humane immigration system that allows those in a loving relationship to maintain those relationships and especially those legally married.

There have been too many families that are being broken and torn apart. A father is taken away from his wife and children.  A mother forced to leave her U.S. born son behind. A child is deported from the only country she has ever known. A life partner or spouse is taken from the person he loves and they have to fight to ensure that their marriage is recognized and honored by our immigration system.

Almost 2 million families of mixed immigration status have been torn apart and continue to be destroyed. According to CNN, that is almost 1,100 families a day. 1.6 million of those deported have been for minor offenses. NOT ONE MORE. We are asking that you stop the excessive deportations because they are destroying our families. You have the ability to stop these deportations and we ask that you employ every means possible to end the inhumane suffering of millions of more families including that of Founding Father Rinaldo Lago and Mario H. Flores.
