Secretary of Agriculture of Maryland-Earl F. Hance: Support and Fund Animal Welfare Organizations in Maryland

Secretary of Agriculture of Maryland-Earl F. Hance: Support and Fund Animal Welfare Organizations in Maryland
The Issue
Every year, over 300,000 animals are abused in the US. That adds up to over 800 per day. In Maryland there were 237 cases of animal abuse. While this may not seem like a big issue, keep in mind that how severely the animals are abused is more important than the number of abuse cases. In Maryland, there are multiple cases of animal hoarding and dog fighting. Animal hoarding is when a person takes too many animals in and harms them, even though they think they're saving them: the animals are starved, apathetic, and unsocialized. Dog fighting is a blood sport where dogs are forced to fight each other, occasionally to the death. So many animals are harmed from these types of abuse.
But there are organizations who work to stop it, such as the ASPCA and the Humane Society. These organizations do what they can to persuade and inform others about animal abuse. They fund animal shelters, hold animal adoption events, rescue animals from cruelty and provide spaying and neutering programs. Their actions help prevent and remediate animal abuse. There are some positive results that come from these actions, such as the Animal Welfare Act, which limits people from testing on animals by setting requirements and regulations.
By signing this petition, you bring us one step closer to raising funds for the organizations. Please sign this petition and show your support for abused animals. They need your help. Be a voice for every abused and defenseless animal out there.
