Say NO to the Miami Media Towers
Say NO to the Miami Media Towers
The Issue
The Miami City Commission has approved developer Mark Siffin's plan to build a shopping center and garage topped with two gargantuan, 40-story digital billboards that will forever change the Magic City's skyline. The site for this monstrosity is the land now occupied by the Miami Herald's parking lot and owned by the McClatchy newspaper chain, adjacent to the Adrienne Arsht Performing Arts Center. Permission was granted for this project with almost no public input or democratic process. In other words it was the kind of back-room deal for which Miami is notorious. The project must be stopped. Signers of this petition oppose the project and call for immediate revocation of the permit to build the giant billboards. Even though the project has been temporarily halted by the developer, the permit is now a permanent component of the land parcel--until we get it removed.
