Say NO To BSL In North Carolina!

Greetings Governor Perdue and NC state Representatives

I have heard rumors of possible statewide Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) in NC. Before considering such a law, please educate yourselves on what BSL really consists of and give The People a chance to be heard.

-BSL bans or restricts dogs based solely on their appearance due to the idea that these dogs are dangerous. BSL does not take into account the actions, behavior, or history of the dog, it only considers the physical appearance of the dog.
-BSL is not only unfair and unethical, it is also ineffective. BSL fails to increase public safety because it does not address the real issue of owner irresponsibility.
-One of the most obvious flaws of BSL is that it requires dogs to be identified by breed based on appearance, which is impossible to do accurately or objectively.
-BSL invariably punishes responsible dog owners, as they are the ones most likely to comply with the law.
-Every single canine welfare organization is against breed specific legislation. I cant believe that in this so called free country of ours, we can be denied the right to have and keep any domestic breed of dog that we choose. How can our rights be taken away just because of a few people and legislators that are IGNORANT TO THE FACTS! And to top it all off, this is one of America's breeds!
(The American Pit Bull Terrier) The Breed that the UKC. was started for in the first place.

To truly know this breed is to love this breed!
I call upon all Dog lovers, no matter what your favorite breed is, to stand together and put a stop to BSL. once and for all!

We must fight for the Dog's rights as well as our own rights!
