Marine turtles are caught worldwide, despite it being illegal to hunt most of the species in many countries. Every living species of the sea turtle is endangered. Long- line fishing has been blamed for some of the accidental sea-turtle deaths. Another danger comes from marine debris, especially from abandoned fishing nets in which they can become entangled.Beach development is another area which poses threats to sea turtles. Since sea turtles return to the same beach locations to nest, if these areas are developed they may be left with nowhere to nest, or their nesting locations may be threatened by human activity. Therefore, there has been a movement to protect these areas, in some cases by special police. In some areas, such as the east coast of Florida, after the adult turtles lay their eggs, they are dug up and relocated to special fenced nurseries where they can be protected from beach traffic. Moreover, global warming can also cause a threat to sea turtles. Since temperatures in the sands define the sex of the turtle while developing in the egg, many feared rising temperatures would only produce one sex, but more research remains to be done in order to understand how climate change might affect sea turtle gender distribution. So, therefore I hope you understand that the sea turtle is a beutiful living creature and we should respect that fact.

Bob PackerPetition StarterI was born in Barbados which is a small island in the caribbean. This is where I spent endless hours growing up around the beach. My days were spent mostly Surfing, but nearly every day revolved around the ocean. When I was younger I did not pay much attention to the changes taking place before my eyes that are so apparent today. I have witnessed entire reefs along stretches of beach simply die and disappear over the years. Along with the reefs went the fish and sea life that was so plentiful. I am convinced that Global Warming is the cause and we need to do something about it NOW before it's too late. Our future generations need us to step up and make significant changes all over the world otherwise they will be the one's to loose out.
