Save the Pediatric Brain Tumor Program at UF!

The Issue

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Program at the University of Florida has been instrumental in saving lives and being at the forefront in conducting innovative research and specialized care for children suffering from brain and spinal cord tumors. The programs ultimate goal was to create a "Center of Excellence" so that children diagnosed around the world can receive specialized care. The program is one of very few places in the Southeast that has a dedicated pediatric brain tumor oncologist - Dr. Amy Smith. However, its the only place in Florida with a dedicated team of people with special expertise and focus on children with central nervous system tumors. Dr. Smith and her committed team strives to make sure that each child receives the individualized care that is needed.

Now, all that is about to change. Currently, there are talks to see whether the program should continue. This is why we need you and your voice to lend support! Treatment of pediatric brain tumors is a multi-disciplinary effort and it can not be done via a single department nor a single approach. All children are distinctly unique and, likewise, so are all brain tumors. Sign this petition so that the Pediatric Brain Tumor Program at UF can not only continue to operate but to grow as well. There is no doubt they will be leaders in finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors - the deadliest of childhood diseases
