My mother was recently very unwell. After over two years of me giving her treatments at home (ointments and zinc paste bandages) the doctors had enough and packed her off to hospital. She's got a huge fear of hospitals, and had resisted before.

She was given the best care she could possibly have. Two years of struggle, and they had her on the mend in less than two weeks. Two months later, and she is now very well thanks to their expertise.

However, the fantastic ward that helped her is being shut down: Ward 2E at Crosshouse Hospital. It is the ONLY Dermatology ward in Ayrshire, and it is always incredibly busy. It treats all skin conditions, from psoriasis to skin cancer. If the ward hadn't been there, my mother would have suffered kidney failure due to a condition she developed called erythrodermia, where all the fluids she intook were seeping straight back out of her skin. The ward saved her life, and now the NHS are shutting it down.
