This petition is requesting the Humane League of Lebanon County to stop the practice of accepting feral cats into their shelter for the purpose of killing them. 

Many individuals in Lebanon County have chosen to have outdoor cats in their neighborhoods spayed and neutered as part of a managed Trap Neuter and Return Program.  Trap Neuer and Return has been embraced by other shelters, such as the Humane League of Lancaster and the Humane Society of Harrisburg. 

Organizations, volunteers and residents use valuable resources to help these communities by providing spay and neuter services to the community, only to have the shelter work against us by later killing them when someone decides they no longer want them around.

The Humane Society should stand by its mission statementto “instruct the people to be kind and considerate in their treatment of animals” by no longer accepting trapped feral cats into the shelter for killing.

We hope to encourage the Humane League of Lebanon County to consider changing their practice of killing trapped feral cats that are brought into their shelter, and instead, offer Trap Neuter Return as an alternative.
